This painting is a sequel to the 1989 commission of the Last Supper entitled LAST SUPPER 20th CENTURY which you can view in the Paintings Gallery).
Entitled LAST SUPPER THE REUNION, this work is a melange of symbolism and art media. The "Reunion" includes Jesus and the 12 disciples and also includes 4 women (Saint Mary, Mary Magdalene, and Lazarus' two sisters Mary of Bethany and Martha). Bottom Left on the Floor is the Brooding Devil.
Notice the three paintings in the background? They are vintage M. G. Khoury (The Trinity Series - See Paintings Gallery).
The concept is based on the REUNION OF THE SPIRITS around the ROCK/CHURCH and the Symbolism of Jesus' Blood in the colour of the Rock/Table. St. Peter and St. Paul are Seated/Fused to the Rock/Table as the Two Pillars of the Church with God looking over everything. The Face of God in the Truss at the top of the painting is the same as the Face of the Christ in the centre point of the work. The Three Zon...
